Abstract
The Nawabs of the Carnatic ruled the Carnatic region as deputies of the Nizam of Hyderabad with Arcot as the Capital. They ruled Carnatic region from 1698 AD to 1855 AD., for about 150 years. In spite of few attempts, local historical studies have been the neglected in the history of Tamil Nadu. This paper traces the rise of Nawabs’ regime and to throw light on the dark corners of history related to their relationship with the British East India Company which paved the way for the decline of this Nawabi Kingdom.
