Abstract
The cooperative system in Moldova is passing a long and difficult period of transition from a statual economy in an economic system. This process may not be perfect, but it ensures a high rate of economic agents involved in competition, thus turning it into a cumulative process of economic and social growth. The strategies, policies, and priorities for the development of cooperatives in the EU member states adhere to high scientific and professional standards, demonstrated over time by obtaining notable performances from technical, scientific, economic and social areas. This article follows the logic and proper steps after the signing of the EU-Moldova Association agreement for the redefinition of the concept and policies of consumer cooperatives in Moldova in order to assimilate with European priorities and practices and use that as a basis for achieving the desired objectives. Rethinking the management system in Moldova's cooperation is a major condition for sustainable economic development.
