EXORCISM AS A HISTORICAL PHENOMENON

Currently, interest in exorcism has increased significantly, it manifests itself in Hollywood movies. It recently released a large number of films on the theme of "possession" and "exorcism". In the West the interest in possession was revived in 1973 after the release of the film "The Exorcist". The article is devoted to the phenomenon of "exorcism".Special attention is paid to the etymology of the word "exorcism",the historical cases,as well as practice in a variety of beliefs.
