DIMETHYL ETHER AND IMPROVED STARTING PROPERTIES DIESEL ENGINES

The advantages and disadvantages of the use of dimethyl ether (DME) as an alternative fuel for diesel engines. Comparisons with other fuels used in diesel engines. The schemes of construction of diesel engines running on DME. The authors conclude that, although the prospects for widespread use as fuel dimethyl ether, will initially be used by dual-fuel schemes and mixing of diesel fuel with DME. Traditional design will also require attention and further development of devices and ways to improve the start-up and performance of diesel engines at low temperatures.
