Abstract
In this article historical reasons for instability in the Republic of Moldova upon the breakup of the USSR and at the present time, including internal and external, object- and subject-related factors, are examined; the peculiarities of the statehood establishment, economic reforms and relations with Europe, CIS-countries and Russia are analyzed; prospects of Moldova as a state are grounded. The author concludes the as-yet inefficient government of the state by Moldavian political elite and the lack of guidance in the present alignment of forces in the world to be able to safeguard the interests of the state and its nation, and to keep the sovereignty by collaborating simultaneously with several global partners.
