Abstract
In the Arabic classical science, phraseology is considered as a part of “science about eloquence” (rhetoric) and “science about vocabulary” (lexicology). Arabic lexicographic works have recorded, along with lexemes, various fixed nonmonomial formations such as word-combinations, sentences and individual author's formations. Besides the phraseology of literary Arabic, there is the phraseology of colloquial Arabic which comprises basically national proverbs and
sayings.
