Abstract
The meanings are the central axis in the teaching practice since these guide the work of those who practice it. This work is the result of a study conducted during several years with primary school teachers in the state of Jalisco-Mexico. This article presents some research findings from the study, supported by the discussion of one case study where meanings are approached from the practice of a teacher with ten years of experience in the basic education level. Specifically, the meanings were analyzed from the concepts of teachers and their role in the school as well as from the elements involved in the teaching practice including education, teaching, and learning. The nature of this research study is descriptive and qualitative; the data were collected through in-depth interviews, open interviews, and observations, three observation records were made. The interviews were analyzed using the phenomenological analysis technique. As a result of the study, we could theorize that teachers construct meaning based on the experience gained in their teaching practice, these meanings are created from their beliefs and certain knowledge about, among others, education and the relationship between education and society.
