The article focuses on the issues of the quality of many of dissertation research in psychology and pedagogy, and in particular says about decreasing methodological level of a certain number of studies in the application of mathematical and statistical methods. Indicates the need for mathematical preparation of the future teachers and psychologists with the basic ideas and methods in mathematical sciences in the framework of the competence approach
