Abstract
Solitary hepatic adenoma is a rare tumor and adenomatosis of liver is even rarer. Liver adenomatosis was first recognized by Flejou et al as more than 10 adenomas in otherwise normal liver. Although a benign disease, liver adenomatosis can be associated with potentially fatal complications such as spontaneous bleeding due to rupture and malignant transformation. The natural history, etiology, optimal management and prognosis are not yet well defined due to rarity of the disease. However, most authors recommend surgical removal of large or complicated tumor in symptomatic patient whereas, close follow-up in asymptomatic patients with small tumor. We report a 31-year old lady who was found to have 8 adenomas in otherwise normal liver. She presented with sudden onset abdominal pain secondary to spontaneous bleeding due to rupture. Hematoma evacuation and right hepatectomy was done and her follow-up has been uneventful and symptom-free.
