Abstract
Real-time modeling of large-deformation behavior is one of the most challenge works in the field of cloth simulation. In this paper, we show a fast and accurate approach for simulating cloth in real time. Our method extends finite elements approach for linear elasticity and combines stiffness warping technique with a large rotational deformation model. We use the finite element method with linear displacement triangle to solve the governing partial differential equations. Our collision handling scheme allows focusing computation power on the important regions where collisions actually occur. We verify our approach using virtual cloth tests in the simulation. Moreover, our method provides robustness and speed appearance in the simulation of large deformations.
