A RFID-based real-time manufacturing information monitoring system

In order to improve the competitiveness of manufacturing enterprises, appropriate manufacturing operations and adaptive decision making are becoming increasingly important. Therefore, a RFID-based real-time manufacturing information monitoring system is proposed to make manufacturing execution more traceable, visible and transparent, as well as overcome the unavailability, uncertainty and mismatching shortcomings of traditional information tracking modes. After viewing characteristics of the promising auto-ID technology, the infrastructure and architecture of a monitoring system are proposed. Real-time manufacturing data capturing and information process methods are discussed. A case study is presented to demonstrate the research. The mechanism and methodologies can be used to other manufacturing factories, companies and enterprises.
