ASSESSMENT OF SIZE AND RIPENESS OF FRUIT THOUGH A NOVEL IMAGE PROCESSING TECHNIQUE

Abstract
Now a day’s all are very much anxious towards achieving the best quality of a product so that it is very important factor for a farmer and the customer to evaluate the fruit quality. The proposed research work elaborates an image processing techniques for evaluation the size and ripeness of the fruit. Here an apple having orbicular shape can be considered as a test input for the proposed model. A high resolution smart camera is used for capturing the image of a fruit and by following the MATLAB developed algorithm the proposed model can be able to evaluate the desired conditions. The size of an apple is calculated by guessing the outer limit point of an image. Similarly the ripeness is concluded by the color coding based Red ?Green ratio. The experimental outcomes are authenticated by measuring the size with measuring instrument.
