Abstract
In this article are presented the intermediate results of investigation of specific characteristics of motivation sphere of students of PE higher education institutions. The obtained parameters in both experimental and control groups of students demonstrate the homogeneity of the investigated contingent and the possible situations, which influence in different directions the popularity of these or those motives of learning activity of first-year students-athletes.
