Abstract
The present literature review discusses possible mechanisms of paracrine regulation of the exocrine pancreas and the role of their disturbances in the development of exocrine insufficiency in diabetes mellitus. The influence of basic islet hormones and neurotransmitters on this process is demonstrated.
