Abstract
Nowadays it is important and necessary consideration of such fundamental principles of international law as territorial integrity and the right of peoples to self-determination. There is much debate about how to relate these concepts, and the context of how they should be used. In addition to questions about the terminology, there are important problems of definition and use of techniques and methods of application of these principles in world politics of the modern world. This article provides the most precise definition of international law and carries out the analysis and comparison of the various opinions of well-known personalities in the world politics, reveals the essence of the principles and highlights the possible solution of actual problems of international law providing answers to the questions: "How can we preserve the territorial integrity, while agreeing with the freedom of self-determination? How, without violating the territorial integrity of the State, exercise a right of self-determination? ".
