Abstract

: A co-operative bank is a financial entity which belongs to its members, who are at the same time the owners and the customers of their bank. Co-operative banks are often created by persons belonging to the same local or professional community or sharing a common interest. Co-operative banks generally provide their members with a wide range of banking and financial services (loans, deposits, banking accounts etc.). The research has undertaken the study of financial performance of all the co-operative banks in Muddebihal talkuk, Bijapur district, Karnataka. The research is descriptive and analytical in nature. The data used for the study was entirely secondary in nature. The present study is conducted to examine the financial performance of co-operative banks in Muddebihal taluk & to compare the financial performance of all Co-operative Bank on the basis of profitability ratios such as Operating Profit Margin Ratio (OPMR), Interest Earned To Total Funds Ratio (IETFR), Interest Paid To Total Funds Ratio (IPTFR), Return on Total Funds Ratio (RTFR), Return on Capital Employed Ratio (RCER), Cost of External Funds Ratio (CEFR), Net Profit to Total Assets Ratio (NPTAR). The period of study taken is from the year 2008-09 to 2012-13.
