Abstract
The purpose of this article is to analyze existing approaches to mathematical modeling of processes accompanying laser cleaning of the workpiece surface to determine the best practices in their modeling. The widespread use of lasers for industrial cleaning and expensive experimental equipment are forced to search for alternative ways to study this problem. The problems arising from attempts to model the interaction of laser radiation with a removable material were considered and made an attempt to generalize mathematical description of the processes of laser heating and destruction. The analysis, using analytical methods of investigation identified the shortcomings of existing approaches for modeling of laser cleaning and determined the most appropriate direction for their further studies.
