Abstract

Purpose. To conduct a methodological analysis of risk for the rehabilitation of the territories on the example of the former company in uranium ore processing "Pridneprovsky chemical plant".Methodology. The assessment is based on the purposes of use of territories exposed to radioactive contamination and pathways. Contaminated sites potential routes of human exposure are as follows: direct intake of soil through the digestive system; ? inhalation of dust, consumption of drinking water contaminated as a result of migration of radionuclides from the soil into aquifers; contamination of the skin when contaminated sites; the consumption of local agricultural products; the flow due to the emanation of radioactive gases (radon, thoron) in the premises of the building; external irradiation from radionuclides in the soil. Depending on the exposure pathways and scenarios that can be in each case, determined effective doses of workers or the population. Risks to the population are calculated from the nominal risk coefficients, which are equal to the population of 5.7×10-2 ZV-1 for adult workers is 4.2 ×10-2 ZV-1. Findings. Currently radiation - contaminated areas and objects in Ukraine, mostly identified and sufficiently explored. However, in regard to these territories and objects, there is significant uncertainty in the final part of the criteria after carrying out rehabilitation activities. The article discusses the use of risk assessments to determine the level to clear the area of radiation contamination. Categorization of sites and objects of radiation contamination should be based on dose approach prescribed by law. Categorization is advisable to carry out the purposes of use of territories and objects. Originality and practical value. Analyzed material recommended by the IAEA and ICRP, which includes the assessment of worker exposures in the course of clean-up and assessment of long-term exposure of the population after treatment (rehabilitation) and release from regulatory control. Considered the scenario where the worker works on this site after rehabilitation
