Abstract
In present work attempts has been made to know the effects of alkaline water on fibre reinforced concrete. The prepared cube samples were exposed to alkaline environment and normal environment for duration of 56 days. The difference between the compressive strength results of cubes from each mix and for each type of curing were compared to get an idea of deterioration in strength. The polyester fibre was added 0%, 0.20%, 0.225%, 0.25%, 0.275% & 0.30% by weight of cement in M25 grade of concrete mix. It was found that the alkaline environment affects the durability of concrete for all cases but rate of deterioration is less in case of polyester fibre reinforced concrete for the optimal % of 0.25 by weight of cement. The deterioration of compressive strength by 1.08% after 56 days compared with same sample cured in normal water condition.
