Abstract
At the present stage, the development of information systems storage, processing and transmission of multimedia data is impossible without the use of compression techniques, which require a correct comparison on the basis of analysis of the effectiveness of the fundamental unitary transformations.
A statistical analysis of the effectiveness of the fundamental unitary transformations, which are used in image compression algorithms. It is noted that one of the most effective transformation is the Karhunen-Loeve transformation, which has the property of full de-correlation coefficients. However, in the existing image compression formats used by the most similar characteristics with further conversion of the quantization coefficients.
