Abstract
This project aims at the design of solar photovoltaic system for the electrification of SSET library at SHIATS, Allahabad (U.P.), India. Total energy consumption in the library was observed for a year. It was found that the appliances in the library consumed total of 7,127.470 unit of energy in the year 2014-15. If the existing appliances are replaced with the use of energy efficient appliances, energy consumption will be reduced to half. If the solar photovoltaic system is installed as a stand-alone system, the investment will be paid back in the span of 9 years. Considering life of the photovoltaic system as 25 years, next 16 years, free of cost electrical energy will be available.
