Abstract
Malformation is widely reported in the northern part of the country and more than 50 per cent of the tree population are found to suffer with this. Disorder is widely spread in flower and vegetative shoot of mango. In floral malformation, flower of malformed panicles become unable to produce fruit or abort at early stages. The incidence of mango malformation is greatly influenced by direction and variety. The panicles of north direction were most severely infested with malformation whereas, the canopy facing south direction was least infested with this malady. According to investigation, varieties also differ in malformation severity. The Sunderja variety found most susceptible to malformation followed by Amrapali while langra was least susceptible.
