Studies on fruit drop and yield efficiency in different mango varieties

The present study was conducted in Horticulture Research Centre, Pattharchatta, G. B. P. U. A & Technology, Pantnagar. The initial numbers of fruit set were recorded maximum (74.25 numbers/plant) in Mahmood Bahar followed by Pusa Arunima (39.00) and minimum fruit set was noted in Ambika (10.25). Maximum fruit drop was seen during the initial 15 days after fruit set ranged from 61.25% to 87.35%. During the second fortnight of development, maximum drop was seen in Neelgoa (22.20%) and minimum was observed in Pusa Arunima (6.95 %). The cumulative fruit drop percentage was found varied from lowest 85.39 % to 97.52 %. Lowest percentage of fruit drop was observed in Ambika (85.39%) and highest fruit drop percentage was noted in cv. Mahmood Bahar (97.52%). Whereas, Maximum yield efficiency was recorded in Pusa Surya i.e. 4.91 kg/m3 followed by Ratna (3.59 kg/m3) and minimum yield efficiency were noticed in Langra (0.23 kg/m3) followed by Swarna Jahangir (0.27 kg/m3).
