Abstract
With the continuous improvement in NGS technologies, their scope and application will equally expand within and across scientific disciplines. Plant biology is getting benefited from increasing our technological capability in genomics, with applications reaching from plant breeding to evolutionary studies. With respect to comparative genomics, the increasing number of fully sequenced plant genomes will facilitate greater understanding of genetic, genomic, developmental, and evolutionary processes which create the diversity of plant life on earth. The improvement and application of NGS technologies will paints a bright future for plant biology along with other areas of life science research, as illustrated above. Next-generation sequencing technologies is revolutionizing scientific discovery at a rapid pace. Since genome sequencing is easily available, genomics is becoming an integral part of every branch of the life sciences including plant biology
