Abstract
Hydrothorax secondary to pleuroperitoneal communication is an unusual complication of continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis. Many modalities have been used to diagnose pleuro peritoneal shunt related hydrothorax. Pleural fluid analysis is a simple, cost effective approach but it is not always helpful to diagnose this entity . When pleural fluid analysis is noncontributory, Tc-99m gammagraphy, computed tomography scan and magnetic resonance image can be used for diagnosis. Among these Tc-99m Sulphur colloid scintigraphy is a very sensitive method to detect if biochemical analysis are inconclusive.
