Abstract
Introduction Cystitis glandularis (CG) and cystitis cystica (CC) are the benign lesions which morphologically resemble transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. This study was done to see the clinicopathological correlation of these lesions with or without upper tract changes.Materials and Methods This was a retrospective cohort study of 5 years. It included all the patients with the biopsy proven diagnosis of CC and CG. Records were checked for clinical presentation and outcome. Results The prevalence of Cystitis glandularis and cystica was higher in males. Predominantly storage symptoms and lower Qmax was seen in patients with hydroureteronephrosis. Diffuse irregularity of the bladder in the trigone was commonly seen in all the patients with hydroureteronephrosis. Conclusions Identifying and removing the etiology is the most important management method. Cystitis glandularis should be actively treated when the lesions are causing upper tract obstruction and in others long term close follow up is required.
