Abstract

The article reveals characteristics of Austrian satiric-grotesque tradition in the work by Jura Soyfer, drama writer of the interwar twenties of the 20th century. Particularly the similarities between drama plays by Soyfer and Johann Nestroy's theatre are emphasized. Main elements for creating satirical effect in both writers' works are introducing fantastic elements, language levels dialectics, multimediality and outsider as protagonist
