Abstract
This study uses data drawn from 48 European top flight soccer leagues over 16 recent seasons to examine, inter alia, the impact of competitive balance and league quality on attendance. The empirical approach permits an investigation of whether the League of Ireland fares less well than it should in terms of attendance. We find no persuasive evidence that the League of Ireland is under-supported.
