Abstract
The old Petersburg buildings having floors with concrete or brick vaults, supported by steel beams, are considered and analyzed. The calculation of the bearing capacity of these floors is produced. It is concluded, based on the considered materials, that one of the main problems is the difference between the results of calculations, adopted in design practice, and the real state of structures. Solutions to this problem are proposed.
