Abstract
The aim of this article is to examine the use of humour as an effective tool in foreign language teaching and learning. The author proves that humour becomes indispensable because it creates a friendly atmosphere in the second language classroom, motivates students to take risks and makes the process of learning enjoyable, creating a positive rapport and resulting in effective foreign language learning.
