Abstract
The article deals with the semantic features of a folklore word. The author makes a distinction between the concepts of a folklorism and a folklore word and highlights the fact that the folklore word serves as a literary and linguistic means of expression and it is found only in folklore texts. The main features of a folklore word due to its semantic, syntactic and pragmatic aspects include the ability to estimate, generalized semantics, tendency to function in combinations and variability.
