V. P. Karpov – first rector Еkaterynoslavsky university

A brief overview of the major historiographical works was given, which reveal the dates of the life and work of V. P. Karpov. The possible causes for the move of V. P. Karpov to Ekaterinoslav were elucidated. The life and work of the outstanding histologist and philosopher professor V. P. Karpov during his stay in the post of rector Ekaterinoslav University (1918 – 1920) were examined. The sources, including archival, which indicate the role of V. P. Karpov in the development University of Ekaterinoslav and preservation its staff were presented. The first time introduced into scientific sources, highlighting the celebration of the scientific communities of Yekaterinoslav in 1918 the 25th anniversary of the scientific and public work of the scientist. It is shown that house of V. P. Karpov was for scientific intelligentsia of Ekaterinoslav its informal unifying center. New sources that reveal the spiritual world of the outstanding physician and philosopher were introduced.
