This article describes the research focused on the study of the patient's with paranoid schizophrenia internal picture of the disease. The main objective of the study is to identify the relationship between the internal picture of the disease and the mechanisms of psychological protection, coping strategies and quality of life of patients with paranoid schizophrenia. Experimental base of the research consists of the following methods: methods of psychological diagnostics of types of attitude to the disease (TOBOL) (L. I. Wasserman, A. J. Vuks, B. V. Iovlev, E. B. Karpov); quality of life questionnaire, questionnaire «Life style index» by R. Plutchik, G. Kellerman, H. R. Conte, questionnaire «Indicator of coping strategies»(D. Amirkhan). According to the results of the study¸ we revealed that patients suffering from paranoid schizophrenia have nonadaptive types of attitude to the disease, such as: sensitive, anosognosia and paranoid. Also, there are the differences between the indicators of protective mechanisms. Patients with paranoid schizophrenia prefer avoiding problems and less likely to use such strategies as resolving problems and search of social support. Also, there is a decrease in quality of life indicators.
