Abstract
Solitary extramedullary plasmacytomas (SEP) are rare plasma cell disorder and are distinct entity from multiple myeloma. Primary lymph node plasmacytomas (PLNP) are even rare form of SEP.They do not have systemic disease and they carry better prognosis as compared to other form of SEP. A 43 years male was evaluated for solitary right level V cervical lymphnode enlargement. A biopsy done from the node was reported as plasmacytoma. His work up was negative for multiple myeloma. He was treated with radical doses of radiation therapy according to theguidelines published by United Kingdom Multiple Myeloma Forum (UKMF) group.UKMF guidelines give details on diagnosing and managing SEP. PLNP follow up review from a large lymphomaregistry did not show PLNP progressing to multiple myeloma, unlike the other extramedullaryplasmacytomas, however the overall survival in PLNP and the other extramedullary plasmacytomas was similar.
