Abstract
Context Naturally present in our environment and used industrially, minerals are emitted into the air as very fine particles and end up falling on the ground and contaminant on animals and plants. Most can be found in our diet. Some are essential to the proper functioning of our body while others have no biological function. But in excess, all may present risks to health. Goal This work would identify the various emerging diseases due to exposure to uranium ores in Katanga province. Methods An investigation near the miners has raised our blood and urine samples. And a retrospective analysis of 5205 records of patients who were hospitalized in hospitals around the mining sites, has raised our epidemiological data. The selection of plugs met the following criteria: identity, origin, occupation, disease, purpose of hospital care for the patient. Biological samples from 90 randomly sorted diggers in the three mining sites (Shinkolobwe kansonga and Hewa Bora) were analyzed by radioactive methods. Results The results revealed the presence of several clinical pathologies recorded on sheets of exposed patients whose digestive, nervous, skin, endocrine, respiratory and cardiovascular. Biological analyzes have confirmed the strong presence of uranium in the blood and urine samples in the partial samples. Conclusion Katanga mining province by its reputation, packed within it several emerging pathologies whose cause is due to the levels of exposure to minerals in general and particularly uranium, as frequently encountered.
