Abstract

The results of a 3-year study on the Izmeri XVII burial ground site are presented in the article. The site is located on the left bank of the Kama mouths region and refers to the Ananyino cultural and historical area. It is situated next to the Izmeri VII and XVI cemeteries, which also refer to the Ananyino cultural and historical area. This fact allows the authors to regard the three sites as a single funeral complex dated by the Late Bronze Age to Early Iron Age. Besides the four Ananyino burials, several earlier artifacts of the Mesolithic and Late Bronze Age were revealed in the territory of the burial ground site, which refer to the Srubna cultural and historical community and the Lugovskoye culture. Later on, there was an Imenkovo culture settlement in this territory. A semi-subterranean roughly square dwelling with a post hole in the center is characteristic of the Imenkovo culture. Its construction is dated by the authors to the time not later than the mid-1st millennium AD. The major part of the ceramics from the upper part of the construction infill is connected to its functioning cessation and refers to the 6th and 7th centuries AD.
