In the scientific article, the process of evolution of string music instruments, which always were notable for their bright, saturated colouring and were close to human voice, is considered. Complex and long way of their development has led to appearance of different types of many-stringed instruments, such as mizafa, yatagan, nuzxa, naxiy, muganiy, shaxrud, mugna, kalin, kanun etc. The abovementioned instruments are described in east papers of the Orient thinkers, their pictures can be seen on the medieval miniatures.
