Abstract

Every human being engrosses to the quest of a happy life and tends to define happiness. But it is not possible to define a life without sorrows, money, and family problems. A life becomes lifeless without all these. It is a beautiful blending of light and darkness. Human existence is comprised of an interweaving web of joy and despair; a web from which we cannot escape. When we analyze the root word ‘life' we get several meanings like ‘living things in general', ‘state of existence' and ‘way of living'. The deeper we think, the deeper the meaning lies. Life is a period between birth and death. Every man in this world experiences this journey and has to enjoy the lessons, hardships, joys, celebrations, and sadness and so on to achieve our purpose in life. In fact, one can encounter many challenges throughout the travel. The challenges we face everyday will test our courage, strength, weakness and faith. One has to overcome all these challenges to make our life to go in a right path. A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing says George Bernard Shaw. This article presents an overall view of Philip Roth's Everyman and its theme where every man experiences in their life journey.
