Abstract

The issue of water economy at agricultural crops irrigation is urgent in Uzbekistan as agriculture is based on irrigation almost completely. Furrow irrigation, which is applied for cotton plant, is demanding much water. The efficiency of various methods of water economy at this irrigation technology is to be specified. The efficiency of every-other furrow irrigation technology at saline soils is studied in Khorezm and Syrdarya regions in Uzbekistan. It is determined that water economy on cotton plant sowing can achieve 33-50 % compared with each furrow irrigation. The larger salt accumulation in the upper soil layer by autumn is noted at every-other furrow irrigation, which requires increased water volume by 1-1.5 thousand m3 /ha for leaching. The influence of every-other furrow irrigation of cotton plant on yield is not noticed, however, this irrigation technology reduces water costs per unit of yield.
