The author addresses the main approaches in a family research in sociology, allocating two directions. The microso- ciological direction researches a family as small social group, and macrosociological – as social institute. To replace traditional values (a roditelstvo, a matrimony) liberal values (an egocentrism, career, per- sonal material welfare) come.
