SOLOVETSKIE ISLANDS – THE RUSSIAN NAME

The author of this paper supposes that many existing versions about the history of the name Solovetskie Islands do not take into account the historical truth of emergence process of this name. The author conceives that the name Solovki traces its history to medieval lexis of the Russian language and suggests closely reasoned arguments for his opinion in the present article.
