Abstract

The article describes mine conveyor operational safety increase method as many fires take place on belt conveyors due to the belt high movement speed and the rollers high rotation speed. Also the belt rupture may take place due to high dynamic loads occurring both at the moment of the loaded belt start and at the moment of breaking. As a rule such accidents cause big financial losses and sometimes to human losses. The described automated belt conveyor speed control system allows to change the conveyor speed depending on its productivity, thereby significantly reducing the conveyor operating time at high (nominal) speed, reducing the belt friction fire risk. Simultaneously with the system application the high loads are eliminated, both mechanical ones on the conveyor elements, and electrical loads to the electric motor and cable networks. Reducing the belt conveyor average daily speed not only increases the conveyor operation safety level, but also significantly saves wear materials and electricity, as well as improves the production ecology. The purpose of the article is to explain how to reduce or even completely eliminate accidents on belt conveyors by describing the belt conveyors automated speed control system operation principle.
