Abstract

The article is devoted to the creative work of Lorenzo de' Medici the Magnificent (1449–1492) in the sphere of new types of Florentine carnival festivals. The carnival triumphs developed by him are considered from the point of view of the cultural and historical aspect as one of the components of the later “Medici myth” and taking into account their importance for Lorenzo as a political instrument and a display of humanistic antique retrospection at the same time. There is factual data about participation of Lorenzo and his company in theatrical activities of different genres, in carnival songs which were created by Lorenzo, the notional and contextual plans of the “Triumph of Seven Planets” and “Triumph of Bacchus and Ariadne” are analyzed.
