Abstract

Still we do not have a decisive answer to the issue of etymology of the calembour term, and as a result, there are various hypotheses of its origin. In this article, a new approach to the solution of this issue is suggested. Etymologically the term calembour has arisen as comic effect of perception of the first translation of Latin saying in the bible text into French. An initial way of calembour creation is the full phonetic similarity of nouns of Pierre ‒ pierre and different levels of semantic of the French statement.
