Abstract

The article defines the segmentation of the exchange market of option contracts of Ukraine. Features of organizing trades and portfolios of options contracts of the main operators of the market are characterized. Portfolios of options contracts for the volume and breadth of the range of underlying assets were explored. It is determined that the exchange market of options contracts of Ukraine contains all existing segments, but the distribution of segments by the organizers of trades does not form a competitive environment in the exchange market of options contracts. A range of options for futures contracts is proposed, which will help increase the investment attractiveness of the latter, which, in turn, will generate demand in the options market. The technical conformity of the functional mechanism of options contracts of Ukraine to the world level of technologies for organizing trades in derivatives market is justified. At the same time, the unpopularity of this financial instrument and its isolation from the development of the real sector of the economy have been revealed. The necessity of systematization of the structure of the functional mechanism of option contracts, minimization of speculative operations and shift of emphasis towards the introduction of mechanisms for hedging economic and financial risks of business entities by optimizing the range of underlying assets of option contracts is proved.
