Abstract

The article provides an overview of freedom and necessity problem in health psychology. Philosophical categories are considered in close connection with the concept of health and healthhuman activities. In the modern world the boundaries of human freedom in health are largely expanded: people are allowed to choose medical facilities and medicines, to decide to have or not to have children, to determine whether to support the life of a person in a coma. Mankind has learned to deal with many previously deadly and incurable diseases and even to change their own gender. But the price for such freedom becomes a sharp dependence on the material and technical means. The society is consistently imposing certain obligations on the individual. Everyone is responsible for work, family, state. Modern living conditions impose imprint on the state of each person health. There are environmental factors and factors of occupational health, and socioeconomic factors. Considering the problem of freedom and necessity, it is impossible to say, what is the relationship between these categories. They may be closely related, can be opposed to each other. Paying attention to the age aspect, we can say that along with different stages of a growing man, and loses, and gains freedom, the same happens with the category of need. In different aspects of life, in different situations the relationship between these philosophical categories is changing. The choice of each individual is determined by the hierarchy of his values, and normal health is considered to be the supreme value, the supreme good and main needs of human life.
