RESPONSE OF THE POPULATION OF NIZHNI NOVGOROD GOVERNMENT TO THE GREAT EASTERN CRISIS 1870’s

The author tries to estimate a contribution of the population of the Nizhny Novgorod region to release of the Slavic people of the Balkans, to allocate the main social groups and the organizations which were carrying out support of the Balkan Slavs. The research showed that in the Nizhny Novgorod province a general population was involved in charity, but the general contribution in comparison with other provinces of the country was very moderate.
