Abstract

This article is devoted to the analysis of the homonymous values of the onomatopoeic and formative- meaning vocabulary of the Korean language in fairy tales. The analysis showed that sound-expressive words func- tion in the Korean language, which, depending on the context, can be used in several meanings. In Korean folk ta- les, we found words with two completely different meanings. There are even words that in one case can transmit a sound image, and in another case a visual image. In some cases, these two images can be transmitted simultaneous- ly. Thus, the variability of the functioning of sound-expressive words in fairy tales makes it possible to describe the surrounding world of fairy-tale characters in such a colorful, imaginative and accurate manner
