CURRENT STATUS OF CHILDHOOD IN UKRAINE

Abstract

At the present stage of the development of society the question regarding consideration and preserving the specifics of childhood, satisfaction of educational, cultural and social needs of children is relevant. The analysis of scientific literature shows the diversity of approaches of studying the problems of childhood. For the last time despite the increased attention of scientists to the issues of childhood in Ukraine, the problem of maintaining the specific of childhood demands development. In the view of the above stated issues, the purpose of the article is to explore the features of modern childhood problems in Ukraine. The disclosure of the outlined problem involves the solution of the following tasks: the maintenance of the specific of childhood, the satisfaction of educational, cultural and social needs of children. In the article the problem of preserving the specificity of childhood in the Ukraine was analyzed. The feasibility of overcoming the «crisis of childhood» was argued, especially the need to implement a number of measures: improving the importance of childhood in general as it is considered the most valuable and responsible period of human life; support of socializing the child; focused training the younger generation to the effective life; special governmental-public children's programs (comprehensive and targeted) both on the state and local levels; the consolidation of efforts of the state and local governments and the public. The analysis of educational documents proves that the state recognizes the uniqueness of childhood, the value of the child and the need to organize the special work concerning children's socio-cultural education and social security, creating conditions for a full life of a child. However, despite the close attention of a state to the problems of child, the influence of education and training on a child, from the side of schools and families, scientists distinguish meaningful social characteristics of the «Crisis of Childhood»: loss of the specific features of childhood, the ambivalence in the modern contents of childhood. The current status of the child and childhood led to the appearance of paradoxes of childhood (due to a number of economic, political, legal and social reasons). It should be emphasized that the ambiguous attitude to childhood causes the appearance of different, sometimes conflicting views on the child, including the neglect of its specificity, the denial of the need to create special conditions for the existence and development. Special attention should be focused on the issue of the consideration and conservation of the childhood's specific, satisfaction of educational, cultural and social needs of children, the implementation of the following number of measures: improving the situation of children in Ukraine; the general support of a childhood as the most valuable and important period of human life; the support of the members of the process of socializing the
