OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTERNATIONALIZATION OF UKRAINIAN AIRCRAFT INDUSTRY

In the paper the authors explore the opportunities and challenges for a knowledge-based industry from an emerging market, in particular an Aircraft industry in Ukraine, to develop globally. While analyzing the major factors that affect the internationalization of the industry chosen, it was revealed that Ukraine has strong basic and developed factors, such as unique technologies, skilled labor, extensive experience in aircraft design and construction, developed cluster of related and supporting industries. At the same time the industry faces unfavorable demand conditions in the domestic market what makes it to develop international cooperation and go more actively to international markets. Among the major determinants affecting the industry's international opportunities, the following have been revealed and explained: strategy setting, financial issues, legislation affecting the industry, innovations, and partnerships within and outside the industry.
